The construction of the Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital building at Rajviraj in Saptari has not been completed even though the deadline has been extended four times. Buildings are being constructed through Rajviraj, an intensive urban and building construction project.
Two tenders were floated for the construction of hospital and cardiac center buildings. According to the project office, an agreement was signed with Contech/Jay JV for the construction of the hospital building on 16 December 2075 for 316 million rupees excluding VAT. According to the
contract, it should be completed on June 15, 2078. After that, the construction has not been completed even after the deadline has been extended four times. The last added deadline is 29th December 2081. The physical progress in the construction work has reached 90 percent. 80 percent of this contract has been paid. Rajkumar Mishra, engineer of the
project office, said that he has been repeatedly urging the contractor to complete the work on time. The hospital's medical superintendent Dr. Shriram Tiwari informed that the hospital is facing problems in service delivery due to the completion of building construction.
'The operation theater has become cramped in the old building. The HDU also has only 12 beds, so there is a problem with the addition of critical patients. If a new building is constructed and the space can be increased, the service could be made more efficient," he said.
