Kaski police have arrested two people, including an Indian national, in Pokhara on charges of online fraud by luring people with promises of trips to various countries in Asia and Europe.

The police stated that they have seized computers, registers, coupon receipts, stamps, and other materials from them and have initiated further investigation and legal proceedings.

According to the District Police Office, Kaski, based on information that a group including an Indian national was defrauding various individuals by promising trips to Asian and European countries from a rented house belonging to Pushpendra Koirala in Parsyang, Pokhara-5, a raid was conducted at around 2 pm on the 8th of Saun.

The police reported that they have taken into custody 26-year-old Vivek Regmi of Kanchanpur Municipality-12, Saptari, and 30-year-old Mohammad Yasir of Shantinagar, Maheshwar District, Karnataka State, India.

According to the police, they had established an organization named ‘Oasis Tourism International’ and mobilized 15 youths. The preliminary investigation revealed that they contacted various individuals online and by telephone, had them fill out coupons mentioning ‘three nights, four days holiday, fill and win, guaranteed gift,’ and collected money from them.

During the investigation, the police found that so far, 30 people had been lured into filling out coupons with promises of trips to various countries in Asia and Europe, and a total of 965,000 rupees had been defrauded. They are also accused of involving 15 young men and women in their activities by luring them with promises of employment.

During the raid, the police seized two computers and monitors, eight different registers and record books, coupon receipts, partially cut coupons issued in the names of various individuals, and four stamps.

District Police Kaski spokesperson DSP Birendra Kumar Paswan stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing and that legal proceedings have been initiated under fraud and other related offenses.
