In the past year, 16,671 tourists have visited the Manaslu region. The number of tourists visiting the Manaslu Protected Area (MCAP) has reached its highest level since it was opened to tourists in the last fiscal year.
MCAP's statistics show that the number of tourists increased by 41.1 percent in the last fiscal year compared to the previous year. MCAP's Information Officer Bhuwan Raj Ojha informed that the number of tourists has increased significantly in the last three fiscal years.
In the previous fiscal year 2081/082, 12,512 people visited the Manaslu region and in 2080/081, 9,783 people visited the Manaslu region. The number of tourists has been increasing every year since the government opened the Manaslu region, which is a prohibited area, for tourism since 1995. The number of tourists visiting the Manaslu region tends to be higher in the months of Asoj and Kartik. The highest number of people visited the Manaslu region in Kartik of the last fiscal year was 4,265. Last year, 784 Nepalese, 634 from SAARC countries, and 15,253 other foreigners visited the Manaslu region, said Information Officer Ojha.
He said that in the last fiscal year 2082/083, only 41,150,188 rupees were collected as conservation fee entry fee. In the previous fiscal year 2080/081, 25,677,390 rupees were collected as entry fee and in the fiscal year 2081/082, 32,650 rupees were collected as entry fee.
He said that tourists are attracted to the Manaslu region as they can also climb the 5,106-meter Larke Pass within 7 days. Tourists visiting the Manaslu region visit the Chum and Nubri valleys. The northern region is a popular destination for tourists to explore its geographical location, mountain ranges, cultural monasteries, temples, and monasteries.
