Home Minister Sudhan Gurung was informed that he would be coming to his home district of Gorkha on Friday evening, but the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) party and security agencies were confused about the time he would arrive, his agenda, and other issues. However, preparations had been underway since morning to welcome the Home Minister.

Gurung, who arrived in Gorkha for the first time after becoming the Home Minister, immediately went to inspect the twelve-kilogram and thirteen-kilogram markets in Gorkha Municipality-11. After the removal of the twelve-kilogram market built by encroaching on forest land, locals made various proposals regarding where to set up the new market.

After discussing the market management with the locals for some time, Gurung reached the District Administration Office. The administration employees were in the office until Friday evening waiting for the Home Minister. After welcoming the employees, Gurung immediately entered the administration meeting hall to give instructions to the employees. It was already 6.30 pm by then. After hearing the details of the administration services from Chief District Officer Tulsi Bahadur Shrestha, Gurung brought up the issue of the 12-kilo market. 

He instructed Pradya Shrestha to make arrangements for one-way vehicle operation after removing the 12-kilo hut built by encroaching on the forest area.  ‘We had to make arrangements to go to one place and come from another place. If we go from 13-kilo and return from 12-kilo, there will be no problem for both the settlements,’ he added, ‘This work had to be done within 7 days, otherwise the dispute will remain. ’ The Home Minister’s directive could not be without controversy. 

The ward chairman of Gorkha Municipality-11 of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) issued a statement expressing dissatisfaction over the expression of local concerns.  The locals have been having their own arguments regarding the market management in this area. 

He instructed the administration staff to create a single-door service system and complete the work of distributing citizenship within 15 minutes. Gurung warned that he would take action if the staff found out that they had taken only Rs 1 from the service recipients.

He instructed to arrange CCTV cameras in all the staff rooms and to manage them in such a way that they could be viewed from Kathmandu. On Friday evening, Gurung visited the District Police Office, Gorkha. He instructed the police staff to conduct impartial and dispute-free crime investigations, provide citizen-friendly services, be responsible and accountable to the citizens, maintain peace and order, and perform their work with high morale to give the people a sense of good governance.

Having instructed the staff the previous day, he visited the District Administration Office again on Saturday, a day off, to inspect the service delivery of the District Administration Office. Having spent half an hour at the field distributing citizenship and national identity cards, he telephoned Smit BK of Gorkha Municipality-14, who had come to the administration the previous day on Friday, to inquire about the service delivery.

After this, he went out to inspect the Armed Police Force Nepal 29 Regiment. He instructed the Armed Police Force to work with high morale. On Saturday itself, he spent the day meeting voters via Thulo Angan, Satipipal, Kokhe Ahale, Baguwa and Ghyampesal. On the third day, Sunday, he visited the Gorkha Durbar and inspected the City Hall of Gorkha Municipality-7. Home Minister Gurung immediately went door-to-door in the Bus Park area. He also inspected the house he was looking for in Shaktichowk to prepare for the establishment of the secretariat.

He is preparing to establish a secretariat in his home district Gorkha soon. On Sunday afternoon, he visited the Provincial Hospital Gorkha. He was interested in the service delivery of the hospital. The hospital administration had complained to the Home Minister about the shortage of specialist doctors. The hospital administration had also informed the Home Minister about the further expansion of services.
