It has been raining continuously since Saturday in most parts of Manang along the Annapurna Cycle Trail. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued an early warning stating that there is a possibility of heavy rain for a few days, and after it continued to rain in Manang, the administration has issued a notice urging the general public and tourists to adopt high alert.
Due to the rain, floods and landslides have damaged the only Besisahar-Chame-Khangsar road connecting Manang and rural roads. According to Krishna Prasad Poudel, Assistant Chief District Officer of the District Administration Office, Manang, tourists and locals have been warned keeping in mind the high risk of floods and landslides.
The administration has urged people to adopt high alert as the water level in rivers including Marsyangdi, Nar Khola, Dudh Khola, Dona Khola, Thada Khola and others may rise due to the rain. The administration has urged people to take special precautions as the Besisahar-Chame-Khangkhar road and rural roads are at high risk of landslides.
According to him, security agencies have been put on alert in view of the possible disaster. The administration has stated that arrangements have been made for the 'Quick Response Team' of the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army to be on alert and for the subordinate units to be mobilized immediately. In addition, local levels and disaster management committees have also been instructed to prepare.
