Due to the incessant rains on Saturday, floods and landslides washed away roads in Shirchaur, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-4, and Taldanda, Naso Rural Municipality-1, Manang along the Besisahar-Chame road. The road was operational only in the afternoon. Various rural roads in the district have also been damaged due to floods and landslides.
In a notice issued based on information from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that there is a possibility of very heavy rainfall in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces on July 2 and 3.
According to Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Khanal, as the risk of flash floods, landslides, soil erosion, river erosion and flash floods due to heavy rains is high, special vigilance has been urged in the coastal areas of rivers and streams, places with high risk of landslides and inundation-affected areas in urban areas.
It rained in most places in the district from villages to cities throughout the day on Saturday. Amidst the forecast of further adverse weather conditions, the administration has directed the security agencies, local levels, volunteers and all related bodies to be on the necessary preparedness.
