Madhyabindu Provincial Hospital in Kawasoti Municipality-16 has started an intensive care unit (ICU, NICU) and a well-equipped surgery room. Earlier, due to the lack of an ICU, patients with complex conditions were being referred to Chitwan and Kathmandu. In coordination with the provincial government and the Hospital Development Committee, NICU services for children and ICU services for other patients with well-equipped equipment and skilled manpower were started, said the hospital's Medical Superintendent Dr. Ramesh Prasad Acharya. The hospital has resumed services from Friday from a room equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for complex surgeries. 'Even for general surgeries, surgeries that require an intensive care unit could not be performed,' said Balkrishna Ghimire, chairman of the hospital's board of directors. 'Now, we have expanded the service so that patients from Nawalpur do not have to go outside the district.' This will provide facilities for highway accidents, snakebite patients, and women and newborns in labor.'
This hospital, which was operated as Madhyabindu Smriti Community Hospital in 2064 BS with the help of local funds, was recognized as a district hospital with a capacity of 15 beds in 2075 BS.
Due to the high number of patients, the Gandaki Provincial Government converted it into a provincial hospital in 2081 BS and upgraded it to 100 beds.
The hospital has stated that more than 97,000 patients received services from here in the fiscal year 2082/83 BS. The hospital has made plans with the goal of developing it as a teaching hospital in the coming days.
