The Birethanti-Ghandruk road, which was blocked since Sunday due to the Modi River flood, has been reopened for one-way operation. After the flood in Kimrung River entered Modi River, two restaurants were washed away in Syauli Bazaar of Annapurna Rural Municipality-8 in Kaski and the road was closed.
After the road was closed, tourists and locals returning to Pokhara were stopped at Syauli Bazaar on the Ghandruk side. Among them were Indian, foreign and domestic tourists. On Monday, officials of the District Security Committee led by Kaski Chief District Officer Kumaman Singh Gurung reached Syauli Bazaar and took the initiative to temporarily reopen the road.
The road has been reopened due to the efforts of the District Security Committee, Annapurna Rural Municipality, Upper Modi Hydroelectric Project, ECAP and others. More than 100 passengers were stopped at Syauli Bazaar in Syauli Bazaar on their way back to Pokhara from Ghandruk.
Chief District Officer Gurung said that the road has been temporarily brought into operation and that the road will be repaired and dual carriageway will be operated after the water flow of Modi River decreases.
