An Indian tourist has died after drowning in Pokhara’s Fewa Lake. On Friday afternoon, 28-year-old Rohit Kumar, who had come to Pokhara from Bihar, India, drowned while swimming.

According to police, he had gone to the Tal Barahi Temple with four friends. After leaving their boat at the temple, two of them went swimming in the lake, during which Rohit Kumar drowned. As soon as news of his drowning was received, a disaster management team under the command of Armed Police Assistant Inspector Devendra KC, stationed at the nearby Fewa Watch and Rescue Tower, immediately began a search operation.

The team recovered him unconscious from a depth of 10 feet at 5:10 pm, about 20 minutes after he drowned at around 4:50 pm. He was immediately taken to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences for treatment, but the hospital declared him dead, according to Kaski District Police Office spokesperson Birendra Kumar Paswan.
