The only road connecting Manang to the national road network, the Besisahar-Chame road, will be closed to traffic on Tuesday and Wednesday (Ashar 16 and 17) at night.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecasted moderate to heavy rain for 2 days, and the District Administration Office, Manang, has decided to close the road at night keeping in mind the safety of passengers and vehicles.

Chief District Officer Nawaraj Paudyal issued a notice on Monday, informing that the risk of rain, floods and landslides is expected to increase with the activation of the monsoon, and therefore it has been decided to stop traffic for 2 nights as per the decision of the District Security Committee.

According to the administration, vehicles leaving Chame Rural Municipality-3 Koto towards Besisahar will be allowed to operate only till 4 pm on Ashar 16 and 17. Similarly, vehicles leaving Taldanda post in Naso Rural Municipality-1 towards Besisahar will be allowed only till 5:30 pm.

The administration has stated that regular traffic will be operated from both places from 5 am. The administration has urged passengers and drivers to avoid night travel except for essential purposes and to adopt safety precautions, considering the risk of possible rain, floods and landslides.
