A youth has drowned while swimming in Fewa Lake. The deceased has been identified as 19-year-old Amar Thapa, a resident of Rambazar, Pokhara Metropolitan City-15. He went missing while swimming in Fewa Lake on Tuesday evening.

Upon receiving information that the youth had drowned in the lake, a disaster management team including divers from Armed Police Force Nepal No. 24 Battalion Headquarters Kalika, Kaski reached the spot at 8 pm for rescue.

During the search, the team found Thapa unconscious from a depth of about 25 feet in Fewa Lake at 9:10 pm and pulled him out. He was taken to the Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences (Western Regional Hospital) for immediate treatment, but doctors declared him dead at 9:44 pm.

The Armed Police Force diving team said that the youth was pulled out of the lake after searching for about an hour. The police said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
