Gorkha Municipality has made public a budget of Rs 1.34 billion 2.45 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/084. Deputy Mayor Masali Maya Thokar presented the budget at the 19th session of the municipality held on Wednesday, projecting the income. 

The budget has been estimated at Rs 212.4 million for the federal equalization grant, Rs 25.9 million for the federal supplementary grant, Rs 18 million for the federal special grant, and Rs 102 million for the federal revenue sharing. 

Similarly, the income projection for the provincial equalization grant is Rs 39.32 million, the provincial supplementary grant is Rs 60 million, the provincial revenue sharing is Rs 15.979 million, the provincial special grant is Rs 39.95 million, the federal conditional grant is Rs 39.74 million, the municipal internal income is Rs 89.613 million, and the cash balance is Rs 130 million, Thokar said. 

The municipality has projected an expenditure of Rs 397.4 million towards conditional grants, Rs 18 million towards federal special grants, and Rs 399.5 million towards provincial special grants. Similarly, Rs 200 million towards municipal administrative current and capital, Rs 140 million towards all ward offices in one lump sum, Rs 25.9 million towards federal supplementary grants, and Rs 60 million towards provincial supplementary grants. A lump sum of Rs 50 million has been allocated towards the municipality's necessary partnership and capital. 

The municipality has allocated Rs 30 million towards education, Rs 17 million towards health and Ayurveda, Rs 16 million towards social development, Rs 12 million towards agriculture and livestock development, and Rs 6.5 million towards the strong leadership development program for the judicial committee and deputy mayor. 

60 lakh rupees have been allocated for forest environment and disaster management, 35 lakh rupees for organizational development and good governance, 20 million rupees for successive contracts and other obligations, 10 million rupees for necessary work to be done in various partnerships including the Municipal Development Fund, Road Board Nepal, Chief Minister's Innovation Program, and 71 lakh rupees for all plans and programs deemed necessary by the municipality.

At the meeting, Mayor Krishna Bahadur Rana Magar presented the policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year. He said that the policies and programs have been presented by giving sectoral priorities to agriculture and livestock sector, education, youth and sports, tourism and culture promotion, road transport and physical infrastructure development, health and drinking water and sanitation, forest environment and disaster management, human rights, justice delivery and adjudication, good governance service delivery, capacity development and social inclusion.
