The Gandaki Provincial Government is going to provide dearness allowance to employees working in contract service like permanent employees from the coming fiscal year.

Minister for Economic Affairs Jit Bahadur Sherchan, while presenting the budget for the coming fiscal year 2083/84 in the Provincial Assembly on Monday, said that in line with the increase in the salaries of employees by the federal government, the province has also arranged for permanent dearness allowance from Shrawan to boost the morale of the employees working in contract service.

‘We have arranged for permanent dearness allowance from Shrawan to boost the morale of the employees working in contract service,’ he said.

However, the provincial government has reduced the current expenditure compared to the previous year. Out of the 32 billion 999 million 99 million rupees allocated for the coming fiscal year, 12 billion 723 million 78 thousand rupees (38.56 percent) have been allocated for current expenditure, 20 billion 261 million 22 thousand rupees (60.68 percent) for capital expenditure and 250 million rupees (0.76 percent) for financial management.

According to the budget, Rs 11.66 billion has been allocated for the physical infrastructure development and transport sector, Rs 2.16 billion for the Ministry of Social Development, Youth and Sports, Rs 4.77 billion for Energy, Drinking Water and Water Resources, Rs 1.21 billion for the Ministry of Forests, Rs 3.31 billion for Health and Rs 2 billion for Agriculture. Rs 5 billion has been allocated for multi-year projects.

Rs 50 million has been allocated for printing driving licenses in the province. In addition, Minister Sherchan said that the necessary budget has also been arranged for the regulation and management of ride sharing.

In the current fiscal year 2082/83, the province had brought a budget of Rs 31.97 billion. Out of which, Rs 12.63 billion was allocated for current and Rs 19.93 billion was allocated for capital.
