The Gandaki Provincial Government has announced a budget of Rs 32.99 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. Minister for Economic Affairs Jit Bahadur Sherchan presented the budget in the provincial assembly meeting on Monday.

Of the total allocated budget, Rs 12.72 billion, or 38.56 percent, has been allocated for current expenditure and Rs 20.26 billion, or 60.68 percent, for capital expenditure.

Similarly, Rs 250 million (0.76 percent) has been allocated for financial management. Despite the increase in employee salaries, the government has succeeded in reducing current expenditure by 1 percent this time compared to the previous year, which is seen as a positive aspect of the budget.

The sources of expenditure presented by the government include Rs 7.84 billion, 82 million from the Government of Nepal and Rs 10.16 billion, 47 million, 48 thousand from revenue sharing.

Similarly, Minister Sherchan said that Rs 514.8 million will be received from royalty distribution, Rs 3.93 billion from conditional grants, Rs 554.6 million from supplementary grants and Rs 395.4 million from special grants. The target is to collect Rs 5.84 billion from the province's own internal revenue mobilization.

In the course of budget resource management, the government estimates that there will be a cash balance of Rs 2 billion after the implementation of the annual programs of the current fiscal year 2082/083. Finance Minister Sherchan informed the provincial assembly that the remaining Rs 1.75 billion, which will be insufficient even after mobilizing all these resources, will be met by mobilizing internal loans. This budget aims to make the province's economy dynamic by prioritizing fiscal discipline and sustainable development.

In the current fiscal year 2082/083, Rs 31.97 billion was allocated. Of this, Rs 12.63 billion was allocated for current expenditure and Rs 19.93 billion was allocated for capital expenditure.
