A team deployed from the Pokhara office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has said that he, who is also the information officer of the office, was taken into custody while accepting a bribe from a service recipient.
According to the CIAA, preliminary investigation has revealed that Kandel had demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a service recipient on the pretext of facilitating work related to land seizure. The CIAA team, which is monitoring the matter based on a complaint, arrested him while accepting the bribe.
Preparations are underway to bring the arrested Kandel to Pokhara for necessary investigation.
According to CIAA spokesperson Suresh Neupane, further investigation is underway into the incident.
