Ashok Sapkota has been elected as the district president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) in the first district convention of Lamjung.

After no candidate could get more than the required 50 percent of the votes in the first round of voting, the second round of voting was held. However, after Bholanath Sharma, one of the top two contenders, left the election process before the re-voting, Sapkota was elected unopposed in the convention held on Sunday night.

Out of a total of 216 delegates, 176 voted in the convention. Sapkota received 69 votes and Sharma 49 votes in the first round of voting for the post of president. Sharma said that he had given up to prevent factionalism within the party. "The party is the biggest. I have given up the re-voting process with the idea that division and factionalism should not be allowed within the party," he said.

Santoshi Gauli was elected as the vice-president, Mina Khadka as the secretary, and Govinda Bahadur Ghale as the joint secretary from the convention. Additionally, Savita Adhikari, Surendralal Shrestha, Singh Bahadur Ghale and Shyam Gurung emerged victorious among the members.
