Yadunath Adhikari has been elected as the president of the National Independent Party (RIP) Kaski.
Adhikari was elected as the president by beating his nearest rival Ekraj Neupane by just 1 vote in a fierce competition at the party's district convention held in Pokhara on Saturday.
Adhikari, who won the election, received 115 votes while the defeated Neupane received only 114 votes. Out of a total of 290 voters, 233 votes were cast in the RIP Kaski on Saturday, of which 4 voters did not vote for anyone.
Bishwaraj Poudel has won the post of district secretary of the party from the convention. Poudel won by getting 122 votes, while his rival Tekraj Sapkota had to settle for 106 votes. Chin Bahadur Gurung and Sujan Bastakoti have been elected as the vice-president of the district working committee unopposed. Similarly, no election was held for the post of treasurer in this convention and the district committee will make the necessary decision and nominate in the coming days.
During the selection of members of the district working committee, some posts were elected unopposed and others were elected by voting. In the 10-member district working committee, some members were elected unanimously unopposed, while elections had to be held for the remaining four posts. 10 aspirants had entered the fray for the four posts.
