Pokhara Metropolitan City has started removing structures built on the banks of the Firke River from Sunday. The 35-day notice regarding the evacuation of the riverbanks expired on Saturday. The metropolis has started removing all types of structures built on the banks of the Firke River as per the survey report conducted by the metropolis in Asad 2080. According to Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya, more than 160 temporary and permanent structures of individuals and organizations will be demolished. The campaign has started from three locations on Sunday. The border of Pokhara 2 and 18 starts from Andheri Corner and goes towards Ward No. 4, the border of Pokhara 4 and 5 starts from Firkepul Budhanilkantha Temple and goes towards Ward No. 5 and 8, and the border of Pokhara 7 and 8 starts from the Lions building in Jirokimi and goes towards Ward No. 6, Acharya informed.

He said that currently a standard of 6 meters has been set from the river bank and mentioned that work will be done within that, including beautification of the Firke River and river conservation.
