The construction of the motorable bridge at Naulikhola in Dharche Rural Municipality-7, Lapu, under the Larke road section has been completed. The bridge, whose construction began in 2079, has finally been completed after being extended twice.

Mohan Shrestha, an engineer at the Infrastructure Development Office, Gorkha, said that traffic started running from Sunday with the completion of the bridge. ‘Only a little work is left to install a wall on the side, other construction has been completed and vehicles have started running,’ he said.

He said that the cost of the 35-meter-long and 8.40-meter-wide bridge was 43.5 million rupees. Suryodaya Construction took over the responsibility of building the bridge in Shrawan 2079 with the work to be completed by Asad 2081. He said that the bridge was built by extending the deadline after the construction was not completed on time. ‘There is also no diversion, it was difficult to work in this place during the rainy season, it took more time to complete it due to lack of work for 6 months,’ he said.

Locals have been demanding the early completion of the bridge construction at Naulikhola, under the Benighat-Arughat-Larke road section, saying that the delay in the construction of the motorable bridge has caused the road to the northern region to become blocked during the rainy season.

The Infrastructure Development Office has stated that a bridge using prestress technology has been constructed at Naulikhola. With the completion of the Naulikhola bridge, the traffic has become easier for the residents of Machakhola, the center of Dharche Rural Municipality, and Chumanubri Rural Municipality.

With the opening of the Larke road track, vehicles including jeeps, tractors, trucks and others have started plying up to Pangsing in Chumanubri-3 during the winter. Driving up to Pangsing has shortened the travel distance of the locals, while transporting daily necessities has become easier and cheaper. The newly constructed bridge was inaugurated by Dharche Rural Municipality Chairman Laxman Gurung on Sunday.
