Police have arrested two people who attacked the security guards of the cooperative with the intention of robbing it.
Ambir Dhakal, 42, of Arughat Rural Municipality-10, Chitwan, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-11, Kamalamai, and Padam Bahadur Bhandari, 39, of Kathekhola Rural Municipality-3, Baglung, and Sunwal Municipality-13, Nawalparasi, were arrested, said Saroj Karki, Police Inspector of the District Police Office, Gorkha. They were arrested in coordination with the Chitwan and Nawalparasi police.
On Baisakh 6, they broke the lock on the door of Saptakoshi Savings and Loan Cooperative Limited in Mangaltar, Arughat Rural Municipality-10, and attacked security guard Chhabilal Dhakal. ‘They attacked the security guard after seeing him as soon as they entered the cooperative,’ he said. ‘It seems that they attacked and fled after seeing the security guard, but the theft did not happen.’
Dhakal, who was hit on his head and other sensitive parts of his body with an iron wrench, is seriously injured. The injured Dhakal is undergoing treatment at Manmohan Memorial Medical College Teaching Hospital, Swayambhu, Kathmandu.
Police have said that an investigation is underway against the accused after obtaining an extension of time based on a complaint filed by a representative of the cooperative for the crime of murder and theft.
