A team of Tamu Pye Lhu Sangh UK, which came from the UK, has set out on a study and research trip to Kholasothar (Khola Sompre Tho), which is considered the ancestral home of the Gurung people.
The team, which reached Kholasothar Rural Municipality-4, Bhujung, Lamjung from Pokhara on Sunday evening, left for Kholasothar on Monday morning. They will reach Kholasothar, a border area between Lamjung and Kaski, on Wednesday.

On Sunday, a team from Tamu Pye Lhu Sangh (Falina Khoinbo) came from Pokhara to Lamjung and visited Besisahar, Ghalegaun and Khoinbo in Bhujung. According to Chairman Gurung, a team of about 50 people, including 23 people from the association, porters and others, are in the tour team. He said that they will reach Nhasikhon in Bhujung area on Monday and reach Khola Sompre Tho on Tuesday. On Wednesday, they are scheduled to worship Simebhume, Sildonaldo and ancestors and seek blessings. Before leaving for the tour, they performed Chyop Lab (worship of auspicious places) in Pokhara.
Secretary of the association Bheglal Gurung said that there is a need for a deep study of the historical and cultural aspects of Khola Sompre Tho, possible excavation and its official documentation. ‘A deep study of Khola Sompre Tho is necessary. This place needs to be made known at the national and international levels. We will work hard to get this area listed on the World Heritage List,' he said.
Former president of the association Som Bahadur Gurung (Som Thorje Tamu) said that a documentary will also be made about the historicity of the visit to Khola Sompre Tho. According to him, there is a plan to publish the book 'Khola Sompre Tho Darpan', which includes oral history, myths and traditional knowledge collected from the Khegi Gurus (Gurung priests).
This will further help the Nepal government in taking initiatives to get this place listed on the World Heritage List. According to him, the team is scheduled to reach Sikles in Kaski on Thursday and reach Pokhara on Friday (Baishakh 11).
