The construction of a concrete bridge over the Binayi River in eastern Nawalparasi of the Narayangadh-Butwal section of the Mahendra Highway, which is under expansion, has been completed.
The construction of a new bridge over the Binayi River in Dumkibas in eastern Nawalparasi, which broke two years ago, has been completed. According to Ishwar Bahadur Rijal, head of the eastern section of the Narayangadh-Butwal Road Construction Project, the construction of the 245-meter-long bridge was completed on Thursday. This bridge will be open to traffic from Friday.
While the construction of the concrete bridge was underway as part of the road expansion, traffic was being diverted due to the collapse of the adjacent steel bridge. The temporary diversion road built north of Binayi River is allowing east-west traffic to travel along the Mahendra Highway.
The new concrete bridge will be used for traffic from Friday, informed Rijal, the head of the eastern section of the road project. After the new bridge comes into operation, the situation of traffic being stopped due to floods in the Binayi Khola during the rainy season will end.
The concrete bridge has been constructed next to the previous iron bridge on the Binayi Khola about 2 years after it broke. At 245 meters long, it is the longest bridge in the district. The Bridge Division under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has not shown interest in removing the iron bridge on the Binayi Khola that broke two years ago.
