Dissatisfaction within the ruling party has also surfaced with the expansion of the cabinet in Gandaki Province. Dron Kumar Kunwar, a provincial assembly member elected from Baglung Constituency No. 2 (2) from the Nepali Congress, has resigned from his post, expressing dissatisfaction over not getting a minister. He sent his resignation to Speaker Krishna Prasad Dhital via email on Wednesday.

Speaker Dhital confirmed that he had received the resignation and said that he would take a decision on the matter after returning to Pokhara as he was in Kathmandu. 'Your honor, you have sent your resignation via email, I will discuss it and take a decision after returning,' he said.

Dhital was unable to attend the cabinet expansion and swearing-in ceremony as he was in Kathmandu. 'I had come to Kathmandu yesterday. I only received the information about the oath-taking in the morning, so I could not attend,' he said.

According to the Provincial Assembly Rules 2080, a member's post becomes vacant after he addresses the Speaker and submits a written resignation and informs the assembly about it. In addition, there is a provision that the position will also become vacant if a member is absent from 10 or more consecutive meetings without notice, leaves the party, or is expelled. According to Article 180 of the Constitution, the position of a member will also become vacant in the event of death, disqualification, or expiration of the term of office.
