Four people, including folk singer Raju Pariyar, have been honored on the occasion of the ninth Smart Village Invitational Gold Cup-2083 and various cultural programs organized at Ghalegaun, Kholasothar Rural Municipality-3, Lamjung.
In appreciation of his contribution to the field of Nepali folk music, singer Raju Pariyar, known as Lok Swar Samrat, was honored by Kholasothar Rural Municipality at the inaugural program organized at Swargbhumi Stadium on Tuesday.
Former minister and CPN-UML Vice President Prithvi Subba Gurung, Rural Municipality President Surya Prasad Gurung and Vice President Gami Maya Gurung presented the certificate and radi. Tourism Management Committee Smart Village Ghalegaun President Prem Bahadur Ghale and others honored him by covering him with a bakkhu. The mother group honored him by covering him with a turban and dosalla.
Similarly, Laxmi Ghale, a resident of Ghalegaun and working at Radio Marsyangdi, was also honored for her contribution to the promotion of tourism in Ghalegaun through the media. Former Minister and UML Vice President Gurung, Tourism Management Committee Smart Village Ghalegaun Chairman Ghale, Rural Municipality Chairman Gurung and others presented her with a certificate of honor and a shawl.
At the program, Kevindra Jung Gurung of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-2, Ghanpokhara was honored for playing a leading role in starting the first football tournament in the Dashthar area. The football game was started by organizing 'Nasarko Bazaar' under his leadership four decades ago at the current Swargbhumi Stadium. He, who is also a former British Army officer, pledged to contribute 50,000 rupees every year for this program in Ghalegaun.
Late Tej Bahadur Gurung has been posthumously honored for taking the lead in the work and organizing the football tournament by raising 50,000 rupees at the time. His son Devendra Gurung was handed over a certificate of honor and a trophy, said Umal Bahadur BK, secretary of the organizing tourism management committee Smart Village Ghalegaun.
Singers Raju Pariyar, Kesh Bahadur Gurung, Anuj Adhikari, singers Madhu Thapa Magar, Usha Gurung, Priya Gurung and others gave musical performances at the program.
