The 21st edition of the 'Fewwa New Year Festival 2083' has started in the tourist capital Pokhara from Sunday, with 'tourism, culture and food' as its main priority. Organized by the Pokhara Hotel Association, the festival aims to attract 300,000 tourists on the occasion of the New Year. The rally, which started from Khahare on the lakeside with tableaux and panchebaja of different castes and communities, reached Ambot and turned into a formal opening ceremony.
Inaugurating the festival, Kaski Chief District Officer Rudra Devi Sharma said that the continuation of the Fewa Festival has increased the dignity of Pokhara. 'Pokhara was an important city in terms of history, culture and tourism, and now it is a matter of pride to be called the tourist capital,' she said. 'This cultural solidarity seen in the festival will help Pokhara move forward as a safe and beautiful city.' The festival, held on the road between Shahid Chowk and Khahare, will continue until the night of Baisakh 1. The Hotel Association has also announced special discounts targeting the
festival. According to Laxman Subedi, President of the Hotel Association Pokhara and coordinator of the festival, hotels under the association will provide up to 25 percent discount on the published rates during the festival period. 'We have arranged this discount with the aim of providing cheap and quality service to tourists,' Subedi said, 'In addition, we have also arranged an additional 10 percent cashback offer when booking a hotel through e-service.' This time, cultural dances, pop concerts and original panchebaja competitions from all seven provinces have been kept as the main attractions in the 
festival. The organizers said that a panchebaja competition will be held in the original style of reaching Ambot from Khare on Monday and 15 groups will participate in it. Similarly, cultural performances and ratyauli programs have also been included in the Chautara of Lakeside, Gaurighat, Center Point and Ambot.
On the occasion of the festival inauguration, Senior Vice President of Hotel Association Nepal Prabin Bahadur Pandey said that Pokhara should now emphasize regional tourism along with domestic tourism. 'The arrival of Indian and Chinese tourists along with Nepali tourists will make a big contribution to Pokhara's economic activities,' he said.
