Thousands of devotees have gathered at the Baglung Kalika Temple on the occasion of Chaite Dashain. Thousands have gathered on Thursday after the daily rush for a few days.
The Baglung Kalika Bhagwati Guthi Management Committee has estimated that more than 200,000 devotees will visit the Kalika Temple on Thursday and more than 500,000 devotees will visit throughout Chaite Dashain. Hundreds of people have been worshipping at the Kalika Temple from 5 am to noon on Thursday.
The Guthi has opened all three doors of the Kalika Temple to accommodate many people at once, said Chairman Bhupendra Khadka. Along with the worship, a large crowd has also gathered at the original fair held around the Kalika Temple.
Open men's volleyball, chhelo and other competitions are being held here, and daily necessities such as theki, dala, nangla, kuto-kodalo, khukhuri, and khunda are also being sold. Rural farmers sell the materials produced throughout the year, while those who come during Chaite Dashain buy and take them away. The Guthi has been managing the original fair held at the Baglung Kalika Temple (Mai Than), which was established nearly five hundred years ago. 
Due to the traffic jam caused by hundreds of vehicles, the district security agencies have supported the traffic management, while the Armed Police Force is managing drinking water here, and the Nepal Red Cross Society and the army are providing first aid services. The fair will continue until Saturday.
It is customary to sing original songs such as Dohori, Jhamre, Sorathi. Groups of people dancing while playing madal and khaijeri are also seen in places, while devotees are seen dancing in and around the Kalika Temple. Since hundreds of Panchabali are offered here, the sacrifice management has also been done.

When King Pratapi Narayan Malla of Parbat married Princess Vishwadevi of King Manimukunda Sen of Palpa, the princess brought Goddess Kalika with her and installed her here in a ritualistic manner. According to legend, the Kalika temple was established in 1591 BS and regular fairs and worship began. That is why the original fair is still held in Baglung Kalika. There is also a popular belief that worshipping at the Kalika temple will bring good fortune.
