Stickers have been pasted on public transport vehicles to spread awareness about forest fire reduction. The Division Forest Office, Gorkha, pasted stickers with messages about forest fire reduction on 30 buses on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Arjun Bahadur Achchami, Forest Officer of the Division Forest Office, said that it has become easier to spread awareness from villages to cities by pasting message-based stickers on public buses. ‘During the week-long awareness program on forest fire control, miking, building fire lines, and spreading awareness are being done,’ he said, ‘Since all kinds of people ride public transport and message-based stickers will attract everyone’s attention, this time we have also pasted message-based stickers on public buses.’ He also said that the stickers were pasted on public transport from Ghyampesal Bus Park in Gorkha Harmatari to Old Bus Park. The stickers were pasted in Barhakilo and other areas on Wednesday.
He also said that stickers with messages on forest fire reduction have been pasted on long-distance and short-distance public transport vehicles operating within the district including Pokhara, Kathmandu, Chitwan. Along with the stickers, a message-based brochure has also been distributed. ‘We have also distributed brochures that will help in controlling forest fires, how to control a fire if it breaks out, how fires damage forests and plants, and how they affect human habitats and daily life,’ he said.
