An excavator and its driver were buried when a cliff collapsed while they were breaking rocks to widen a road near Bhache-Bhadaure, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-2, Lamjung.
Locals said that the excavator was buried and the driver was trapped when a cliff collapsed around 9 am on Wednesday while widening the road along the Khudi-Ghanpokhara-Nayu road.
According to locals and police, the cliff collapsed on the excavator while breaking rocks. District Police Office Chief DSP Jitendra Kumar Basnet informed that the driver was trapped in a landslide while breaking rocks to widen the road.
He said that the identity of the young man, aged around 30-32, is yet to be revealed. DSP Basnet said that another excavator was sent after another small machine could not pull him out. The construction contractor was coming from Pokhara and his identity will be revealed only after his arrival, according to police.
