To prevent an artificial shortage of cooking gas, only one gas cylinder will be provided to each family at a time in Lamjung.
Gas dealers, depots and sellers have been arranged to provide only one gas cylinder to each family by keeping a record of the customer's citizenship number or identity document, including the name, address and phone number.
Gas sales and distribution of half-filled cylinders have started in Lamjung from Sunday. A businessman said that a discussion was held at an all-party meeting held at the District Administration Office to ensure that the price of gas cannot exceed Rs 1,000 per cylinder.
Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Khanal said that it has been decided to implement the 'first come, first served' system while selling and distributing cooking gas. According to him, the businessman will keep a record of all the details of the customer and will distribute gas and only one cylinder will be given to a single family at a time.
Similarly, it has been decided to provide gas to pregnant women, people with disabilities, families with senior citizens above 70 years of age and students living in rented accommodation on the basis of the recommendation of the local ward office, said Assistant Chief District Officer Thamman Singh Gautam.
According to him, local ward members will be given the responsibility of monitoring to prevent black marketing, selling at high prices and collecting more gas than required by a single family during the sale and distribution of gas. It has been decided that the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force will jointly arrange security arrangements for the gas sales point.
Similarly, it has been decided that gas depots should keep the details of the cylinders they have purchased and provided to retailers safe and provide them to the District Police Office and District Administration Office. In addition, information about the arrival of gas should be informed in advance to the police, administration and the concerned ward office. It has been decided to stop the sale and distribution of new cylinders for the time being.
