A 3-month-old woman came to a shop in Besisahar in the morning to look for gas. When the shopkeeper turned her away saying there was no gas, she started crying at the door. Because she had not eaten in the evening due to lack of gas.

The shopkeeper took out a gas that he kept as a necessity and asked the worker to send it. A service recipient searched for gas in Besisahar market all day on Thursday and Friday but could not find it. After a friend searched for it, he reached Sundar Bazaar on Friday evening and brought gas.

According to consumers, the businessmen have not provided gas. Citing the ongoing war in West Asia, businessmen say that there is a gas shortage in Lamjung too. According to them, the gas has been received less than before. The gas that has been received is also being sold in bulk. According to them, some consumers have taken more gas than required, so essential customers are facing problems.

Ishwor Prasad Shrestha, Chairman of Manang Marsyangdi Group, said that the gas is sold out immediately after it arrives and that the consumers who come later do not get it. ‘The company has received less than before. There is a shortage here, now there is a shortage,' he said.

'From now on, half-filled gas cylinders are ready to arrive. Now those who are essential will take gas. Now there are also customers who ask who will take half the gas,' he said. According to him, the company has been selling more than 3,000 gas per month.

According to businessman Prabhuram Pradhan, there is a shortage as soon as the gas arrives. 'Some people are buying more gas than necessary because there will be a shortage of gas due to the war outside, some are buying more than necessary by spreading rumors that the price of gas will increase, this is my guess,' he said.

He, who sells gas from 3 companies, said that the demand for gas has increased dramatically recently, with more than 3,000 gas being sold monthly. 'Today alone, 324 cylinders arrived. As soon as they arrived, they went to nowhere,' he said, 'They have said that half-filled cylinders will arrive from tomorrow, now we will know how many people will come to get it, then.'

He said that gas could not be supplied as per demand. ‘Due to the war, there has been less gas from above. It is understood that there are rumors that gas will not come here and that the price will increase,’ he said.

General Secretary of the Lamjung Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bipin Shrestha said that the sellers have already given all the gas to the consumers and the consumers are complaining that they are not getting it. ‘There is a shortage of gas in the market now. Consumers did not bring more gas than they needed,’ he said.

The District Administration Office issued a notice on Friday, warning against unnecessary storage of petroleum products and cooking gas.

In a notice issued by Assistant Chief District Officer Thamman Singh Gautam, it has been stated that the supply of petroleum products and cooking gas is going on smoothly till today. The notice states that some individuals and retailers have stored and hidden more petroleum products and cooking gas than required with the intention of selling or hoarding at higher prices.

The notice states that Nepal Oil Corporation has started sending half cylinders of gas to the market and requests that no one should unnecessarily stock petroleum products and cooking gas, that petrol pumps should not sell petroleum products in drums, jars, bottles, etc. except in vehicles, and that no one should sell petroleum products and gas at higher prices by creating artificial shortages.

‘Anyone who creates artificial shortages of petroleum products and engages in black marketing in violation of the notice will be subject to strict action under the Black Marketing and Certain Other Social Offences and Punishment Act, 2032 BS,’ the notice states.
