UML central member and Kaski in-charge Krishna Thapa passed away on Thursday. He was rushed to Manipal Hospital after collapsing while speaking at a meeting at the district party office in Shantivan, Pokhara-9.
He suffered a heart attack after addressing a review meeting of the Kaski-1 election for 10 minutes. He was immediately taken to Manipal Hospital, but doctors declared him dead, according to hospital sources.
Thapa, the then mayor of Pokhara Sub-metropolitan City, was elected as a member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly in 2074. In 2079, he was defeated by Dhanraj Acharya for the mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City again. In this time, the ticket he got from Kaski-2 the previous day in the House of Representatives election was snatched the next day. Rashmi Acharya got the ticket in his place.
