The bail of 19 candidates who filed their candidacies in both constituencies of Gorkha has been forfeited. The bail of 19 people, including CPN-UML candidate RC Lamichhane from Gorkha-1 and candidate Milan Gurung (Chakre Milan) from Gorkha-2, who did not secure 10 percent of the total votes, has been forfeited.
Except for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Congress and NCP, all other candidates failed to secure 10 percent of the valid votes, said District Election Office Information Officer Ravilal Subedi. There were 12 candidates in Gorkha-1 and 13 in Gorkha-2.
61,390 votes were valid in Gorkha-1. UML candidate Ramchandra Lamichhane (RC) got only 3,732 votes. Ramkaji Rana Magar of Ujjaya Nepal Party got 498 votes, Kedarmani Khanal got 310 votes, Jit Bahadur Ghale of Samyukta Nagarik Party got 165 votes, Dev Bahadur Thapa of Mongol National Organization got 142 votes, Bishnu Prasad Rijal of NCP (Maoist) got 57 votes, Akash Rana Magar of National Republic Nepal got 35 votes, independent candidate Kabita Bhattarai got 23 votes and Manukumari Shrestha of Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party got 19 votes. The bail has been forfeited.
Similarly, in Gorkha-2, the bails of Milan Gurung (Chakre Milan) of CPN-UML who got 3,087 votes, Balram Tamang of Ujjaya Nepal Party who got 639 votes, Kul Bahadur Basnet of RPP who got 292 votes, Som Bahadur Gurung of Mongol National Organization who got 290 votes, Tek Bahadur Pradhan of CPN-Maoist who got 130 votes, Prasad Gurung of National Republic Nepal who got 111 votes, independent candidate Chuda Prasad Dhakal who got 80 votes, Kalpana Kumal of Aam Janata Party who got 41 votes, Ram Sharan Budhathoki of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party who got 30 votes, and independent candidate Hari Pokharel who got 14 votes have been forfeited. Of the 57,156 votes cast in Gorkha-2, 54,147 votes were counted.
