The Progressive Democratic Party (PRLP), close to Baburam Bhattarai, is going to support the Congress candidate in both the regions of Gorkha. The party has moved forward to support the Congress candidate after discussions held at various stages between the two parties, said Pralopa District President Narayan Khatri. 

‘It was not decided at the party meeting, but we were in discussions with various parties when we did not have a direct candidate in both the regions,’ he said. ‘We have moved forward by verbally supporting the Congress candidate directly after discussions between the two parties.’ 

He said that he would vote for his own party in the proportional representation. Gopal Babu Shrestha in Gorkha-1 and Baburam Bhattarai in Gorkha-2 from PRLPA had withdrawn their candidacies.

In the 2074 BS elections, the then Naya Shakti Party had also formed an electoral alliance with the Congress in Gorkha. "We had cooperation with the Nepali Congress in 2074 BS as well, and even now we are broadly standing in a position to cooperate," said Yan Prasad Bhatta, district in-charge of Pralopa. "We have positively moved forward the discussion as we see that the Nepali Congress candidate would be suitable in the current situation, as we do not have a candidate."
