Independent Gen-G candidate from Kaski Constituency No. 2, Bikram Poudel, has withdrawn his candidacy and announced his support for Madhav Prasad Bastola of the Nepali Congress.
He said in a press release on Monday that he has decided to support the Nepali Congress for the protection of democracy, positive change and long-term stability .
He mentioned that his political journey began not for position, power or bargaining but for the sake of generational change, self-respect, opportunities and a secure future for the youth . He stated that he decided to support Bastola due to the current political situation, the clear vision of the Congress, the loyalty, honesty and youth-friendly thinking of the candidate .
Poudel said in the statement, ‘Today I have withdrawn my candidacy but I have not withdrawn my voice . Today I have supported but I have not lost the right to ask questions .’
He clarified that his decision was not a surrender but a conditional support . ‘If the voice of the people is not heard, the trust of the youth is played with, corruption, oppression and lust for power prevail, then I will never again retreat from warning through pen, voice and on the streets,’ he said.
Poudel has now appealed to voters to vote for the Congress tree symbol and make Bastola victorious, stating that he will now embark on a campaign to link the future of Kaski-2 with the leadership of the youth. 'This victory is not for any one person, this victory will be for the youth, it will be for the future,' he said.
