An HPV vaccination campaign against cervical cancer is set to begin in Gorkha from Magh 10.
The HPV vaccination campaign is being conducted targeting girls studying in grade 6 and girls up to 10 years of age who are not attending school.
The campaign, which will be conducted simultaneously across the district from Magh 27 to Falgun 1, aims to vaccinate 1,885 girls, said Nanibabu Dani, Public Health Inspector at the District Health Office, Gorkha.
He said that 1,874 girls studying in grade 6 and 11 out-of-school girls will be vaccinated. 173 schools and 4 health institutions have been designated as vaccination centers for the vaccination campaign.
He said that girls studying in grades 7 to 10 who missed the vaccination and girls aged 11 to 14 who are not attending school will also be vaccinated.
Simran Kafle, head of the District Health Office, Gorkha, urged local health institutions to collect a list of girls under the age of 10 who are not attending school in their villages and work areas and to monitor the number of such girls. She said that girls who have received one dose of HPV vaccine do not need to receive another dose.
