Forty-four licensed weapons have been handed over to the District Police Office in the district.
The District Administration Office, Gorkha, had urged the police to surrender illegally held and privately held licensed weapons in the district, targeting the upcoming House of Representatives elections.
DSP Rajkumar Shrestha of the District Police Office, Gorkha, said that 44 weapons were received by the police within the deadline of Magh 20.
The police have also stated that they are monitoring the non-surrender of licensed weapons. The administration had also warned that action will be taken as per the prevailing law if the weapons are not surrendered within the stipulated time.
31 weapons were surrendered at the District Police Office, 9 at the Area Police Office, Thati Pokhari, and 2 each at the Area Police Offices of Arughat and Jawari.
