Marsyangdi Rural Municipality has distributed Dasana as part of the Senior Citizens Honor Program.

According to Laxmi Ghale, Chief of the Women, Children and Senior Citizens Section of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality, a total of 526 senior citizens who have completed the age of 80 from Wards 1 to 9 received warm kisses. Ghale said that 41 from Ward 2, 109 from Ward 3, 48 from Ward 4, 51 from Ward 5, 84 from Ward 6, 37 from Ward 7, 45 from Ward 8 and 88 from Ward 9 received warm kisses.

The rural municipality had allocated a budget of Rs 500,000 this year under the Senior Citizens Honor Program, which was conducted as per the approved annual budget and program for the fiscal year 2082/083. The senior citizens who were recommended by the concerned ward were distributed kisses by the employees of the Women, Children and Senior Citizens Section in the presence of the people's representatives of the ward.

Rural Municipality Chairman Arjun Gurung said that the program was conducted with the aim of expressing respect, protection and social harmony towards senior citizens. "Senior citizens are the heritage of our society's experience and knowledge," he said, "The rural municipality will continue to carry out programs as much as possible for their health, safety and respect." The rural municipality has provided warm blankets, flashlights and other items to senior citizens in the past years.

Similarly, the rural municipality has also been running a free health check-up program for senior citizens. Rural municipality chair Gurung informed that programs related to the health, social security and improvement of the living standards of senior citizens will be made more effective in the coming days.
