Two journalists from Baglung have been awarded on the occasion of the 28th founding day of Press Chautari Nepal.

The Press Chautari Active Journalism Award established in 2072 BS was awarded to Federation of Nepali Journalists Vice President Sirjana Panta and the Press Chautari Youth Award to Federation member Arjun Karki. 

The awardee Panta is also the Parbat District In-charge of Chautari and the Vice-President of Karki District Branch, Baglung. UML Central Member Mankumari GC presented the awards to the journalists. The awards are worth Rs 10,000 each, informed District President Kamal Poudel.

Chautari has created two funds of Rs 100,000 each. The procedure has been made to award two journalists every year from the interest of the fund.

On the occasion of the day, speakers have said that the press should play a responsible role to prevent the psychology of the citizens from being destroyed. KC said that only responsible and factual journalism can guide the state when the Nepali press is also in crisis.

She also said that the press should play a leading role to prevent democracy from being looted and crushed. She also said that journalism should work towards that as citizens can know the right thing through truthful information.
