The District Administration Office, Lamjung, has requested citizens to surrender their licensed weapons (guns) by Magh 20.
The administration has urged the people to surrender their weapons to ensure that the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21 are held in a clean, fair, dignified and peaceful environment.
Assistant Chief District Officer of the District Administration Office Thamman Singh Gautam said that the weapons will be returned after Chaitra 20. All types of weapons have been urged to surrender before Magh 20 to ensure that the elections are held in a fear-free environment.
As per the decision of the meeting held on Magh 6 of the District Command Post under the District Administration Office, Lamjung, all licensed weapons have been directed to surrender to the concerned local police office by Magh 20. The administration has warned that legal action will be taken if the licensed weapons in their possession are not surrendered.
According to the District Administration Office, there are more than 1,000 registered weapons (guns) in Lamjung. Few of these have been renewed. Most have not been renewed.
