Seven people, including two children, were injured in an auto accident on the concrete bridge connecting Sundarbazar Municipality-6 in Lamjung and Manechauka, Bhanu Municipality-11 in Tanahun.

The auto (G 1 H 60) was heading towards Manechauka from Sundarbazar on Sunday afternoon when it met with an accident, police said.

Savitri BK, 50, Dipsan BK, 7, Saraswati BK, 39, and Sunil BK, 27, of Bhanu Municipality-11 Rupakot in Tanahun were injured in the accident.

Similarly, Laxmi BK, 49, of Sundarbazar Municipality-2 in Lamjung, Prabhat Gurung, 2, and Juna Gurung, 36, of Rupa Rural Municipality-6 in Kaski were also injured.

Six of the injured were referred to the New Chitwan Medical College for further treatment after receiving primary treatment at the HDCS-Namuna Community Hospital in Sundarbazar, said hospital chief Hemanta Shrestha. According to him, all the injured have suffered head injuries. Driver Sunil BK has received general treatment.

Police Inspector Gyanendra Bahadur Chhetri of the District Police Office, Lamjung informed that among the seven people involved in the accident, auto driver Sunil BK suffered minor injuries and was taken under control after receiving primary treatment. He said that six others have been sent to Chitwan for further treatment including a CT scan.

According to the police, it is initially suspected that the accident may have occurred because the auto was being driven at a high speed with more passengers than its capacity. The police said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
