”Although the bridge construction contractor company purchased equipment from China, there has been some delay in the work due to it being stuck at the Rasuwa customs checkpoint. The work will proceed as soon as the equipment arrives,” said Narayan Lamichhane, chief of the Road Division, Bharatpur.
Work on the Signature Bridge, which was supposed to be built on the Narayani River, has not progressed due to the fact that the bridge's load-bearing capacity measuring device has been stopped at the Kerung customs in Rasuwa.
According to Narayan Lamichhane, Chief of Road Division Bharatpur, the bridge construction work has not been progressing as fast as it can be seen in the field because the machinery that was to be brought from China was stopped at the Rasuwa customs checkpoint.
‘Although the bridge construction contractor company purchased the machinery from China, there has been some delay in the work because it was stuck at the Rasuwa customs checkpoint. The work will proceed as soon as the goods arrive,’ said Lamichhane.
The hospital machinery that the contractor company purchased from China has been stopped at the customs for two weeks. The load-bearing measuring device has to be placed at the base of one of the two pillars to be erected on the Narayani River. Currently, the work of weaving the rod of the pillar used in the bridge is underway.
Engineer Manzil Mishra of Tundi Construction Pvt. Ltd., the contractor company of the bridge to be built in Narayani, claimed that the work will start as soon as the goods arrive at the bridge construction site from Kerung Bhansar. "The goods that were stopped will arrive at the Narayani Bridge construction site in the next week, and the work will begin after Chinese technicians arrive and install them," Mishra said.
The bridge to be built on the Narayani River at a cost of Rs 1.68 billion will be state-of-the-art, mirroring the Karnali Bridge.
