Locals have protested against the construction of a model district headquarters in Kawasoti, the headquarters of eastern Nawalparasi, saying that the old road used in the construction has been blocked. On Monday, locals submitted a memorandum to Chief District Officer Bhavishwar Pandey, drawing his attention to the matter.
Locals of Kawasoti-3 Purano Bazaar have protested against the construction of a compound wall to block the movement of locals. Receiving the locals' letter of attention, Chief District Officer Pandey said that he would take the initiative to resolve the problem.
While preparing the DPR of the district headquarters, local Chandrakala Wagle said that the plan was to close the old Kawasoti-Hansaura road, which locals have been using for the past 50 years, and work should be done without closing the road. She said that the locals had also warned that they would protest if their demands were ignored.
Earlier, the locals had gathered and requested a delegation from the Intensive Urban and Building Construction Project, Bharatpur, Chitwan, to construct a gate on the main road to the district headquarters.
