The bridge over the Kerunge River in Kawasoti, eastern Nawalparasi, which was supposed to be completed in two years, has been completed in seven years.
Due to the lack of a bridge connecting Kawasoti Municipality-3 and 4, locals were forced to cross the river at great risk for years.
The construction of the bridge, which was supposed to be completed by Asad 2077, was delayed by the contractor citing various reasons. After extending the deadline twice and putting pressure on the locals, the construction of the bridge finally gained momentum.
After the completion of the 140-meter-long bridge at a cost of Rs 100 million, residents of Kawasoti-3 and 4, apart from Hupsekot Rural Municipality, will also be able to reach the district headquarters Kawasoti quickly and easily, said Narayan Prasad Lohani, Ward Chairman of Kawasoti-4.
Due to the lack of a bridge, residents of Ward 4 and Hupsekot were forced to cross the river at great risk during the rain for administrative, market, college and other work.
