36 people have been trained with the aim of making it easier for tourists going on treks to learn about birds.

A three-day bird identification training has been provided for trekking guides under a joint initiative of the Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province Office and the Pokhara Bird Society.
Pokhara Bird Society President Manashant Ghimire informed that 36 guides who are providing guidance in the trekking area in Gandaki Province have been trained with the aim of making it easier for tourists going on treks to inform them about birds.
Nepal Ornithologists Association President Hathanram Mahato, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Chief Rabin Kadariya, Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP) Executive Member Gopi Shrestha, as well as ornithologists, provided theoretical and practical training on various aspects of bird watching to the participants of the training.
Pokhara Tourism Council President Taranath Pahari told the participants at the closing ceremony of the training on Sunday that bird tourism is an important aspect of various types of tourism.
Nepal Tourism Board Gandaki Province Office Chief Maniraj Lamichhane said that some tourists come only to see birds and it is necessary for such tourists to gain expertise in this regard.
Hathan Ram Mahato, president of the Nepal Birdwatching Society, said that those who want to work in bird tourism need to have a deep passion for it as well as the use of technology to gain expertise in the field.
