UML has recommended the names of 8 candidates from Gorkha-1 and 6 from Gorkha-2, including Chakre Milan, RC Lamichhane, and Abdul Miyan.
UML Gorkha has recommended the names of 14 candidates from both constituencies for the February 21 House of Representatives elections.
The party has recommended the names of 8 candidates from Gorkha-1 and 6 from Constituency No. 2. UML District Secretary Kajiram Roka said that the district committee recommended the names to the provincial committee on Saturday based on the recommendations of the meeting of the Constituency Coordination Committees 1 and 2 of the House of Representatives. He said that the names of Amir Kazi Thapa, RC Lamichhane, Krishna Prasad Kapri, Chet Bahadur Rokaha, Vishal Thapa, Dr. Modraj Bagale, Devi Thapa and Lilanath Neupane have been recommended in Gorkha-1. Similarly, the names of Milan Gurung (Chakre Milan), Baburam Thapa, Shashikala Devkota Pokharel, Abdul Salam Miyan, Kamal Dani and Basanta Gurung have been recommended in Constituency No. 2 of the House of Representatives. Miyan was also defeated in the 2079 elections. Various comments are being made on social media after recommending the candidate for Chakre Milan, who has a controversial image.
UML has stated that the district committee has recommended the name to the province along with its opinion based on the recommendation of the Constituency Coordination Committee.
District Secretary Roka said that the center will have the right to make the final decision on the candidate after the recommendation by the provincial committee.
