2 UML candidates from Lamjung on proportional closed list, none from other parties

Only two candidates from the CPN (UML) from Lamjung have been included in the proportional closed list submitted by political parties to the Election Commission.

Apart from UML, no candidate from any party including Congress, NCP, or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has been able to make it to the proportional list from Lamjung.

For the elections scheduled to be held on Falgun 21, the parties had recommended a large number of candidates from the district for the proportional representation. However, among the recommended candidates, only Tukabhadra Hamal from UML for women and Prem Bahadur Ghale for indigenous men have been included in the closed list.

Hamal is a central member of UML and central president of the All Nepal Women's Association. She was elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly from UML in the 2070 BS Constituent Assembly election on the proportional representation side. Her name is second on the closed list submitted by UML to the Election Commission for women.

Ghale is a member of the UML Gandaki Province Committee Secretariat. He was previously included in the list of proportional candidates for the Provincial Assembly in the 2079 BS House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly member elections. However, his name was removed at the last minute because he was a people's representative.

Ghale, who is also the former chairman of Kholasothar Rural Municipality, is currently at number 11 on the closed list for the tribal community. Under his leadership, UML had made a 'clean sweep' in Kholasothar Rural Municipality in the 2079 local level elections.

When more than 3,400 candidates from 65 political parties were submitted to the Election Commission for 110 proportional representation MPs, no candidate from any party other than UML from Lamjung could be included in the proportional list.
