Army's Rokai wins first in Gorkha race

Rajan Rokay of the Nepali Army has emerged first in the 'Man of the Gorkha Race' held on the occasion of the 12th Gorkha Festival.

Rokaya of Tribhuvan Army Club came first, covering the prescribed distance of 8 kilometers in 29 minutes and 38 seconds. Sharan Shrestha, the race coordinator of the Gorkha Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that Rokaya, who came first, was made to walk around the market wearing a costume from the time of Dravida Shah and accompanied by a panchebaja. He has been awarded Rs 30,000 in cash. Ganesh Rawal of the Army came second, covering the prescribed distance in 30 minutes and 18 seconds. Tanka Bahadur Karki of the Army came third, covering the prescribed distance in 30 minutes and 59 seconds. They received cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Santosh Nath Yogi and Ashma BK of Nepal Police Academy came in consolation. He said that Yogi, who came in consolation, was given Rs 5,000 and BK, respectively, were given cash prizes of Rs 2,000.

The competition was held on a distance of 8 kilometers from the coronation of Dravishah Chautara in Gorkha Municipality-5, Paslang to Hanuman Bhanjyang at Gorkha Durbar.
