An inmate who escaped from Kaski Prison while serving a sentence for dereliction of duty has been arrested in Lamjung.
Police have arrested 45-year-old Man Bahadur Gurung of Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality-5, Kolki, Lamjung, who had absconded from the Kaski Prison Office on Bhadra 24.
A police team deployed from Police Post Gaunda took him under control on Tuesday and handed him over to Kaski Prison after legal proceedings, according to the District Police Office, Lamjung.
According to DSP Resham Bohara, Chief of the District Police Office, Lamjung, out of the prisoners and detainees who escaped from Kaski and Tanahun Prisons on Bhadra 24, 46 have been arrested in Lamjung so far and sent to the respective prisons.
On Asad 32, after the wall near the gate of Lamjung Prison collapsed, 109 prisoners and detainees in Lamjung Prison were transferred to Kaski and Tanahun Prisons. The prisoners and detainees escaped by taking advantage of the protest on Bhadra 24.
The Lamjung District Police Office has urged anyone with information about the absconding defendant to report it to the nearest police office. The police have clarified that the confidentiality of the information received will be maintained.
