Eleven shacks built on public land on the Daunne hills of the Mahendra Highway have been forcibly removed.

The Division Forest Office on Tuesday deployed police and armed forces to demolish 11 huts built for hotel business in the forest area.

The huts built on the Daunne hill between Dumkibas and Bardaghat along the Mahendra Highway were removed.

Locals have protested, saying that the huts that have been doing business for years in the freezing cold have been demolished. Local businessmen have protested, saying that they have been doing hotel business there for 47 years by building huts.
