The ninth Lamjung Festival is scheduled to be held from Magh 8 to 20. The Lamjung Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced the festival at the Sahaji Playground in Besisahar, the Lamjung district headquarters, at a press conference on Tuesday.

The main organizing committee has been formed under the coordination of Chairman Bharat Kumar Shrestha to run the festival. Similarly, 14 other sub-committees have been formed, according to the organizers. More than 200 stalls will be set up at the festival.

The organizers have set the following objectives: to promote the market for local agricultural products, cottage and small industry materials produced in the district, to make local industries, trade and businesses economically strong and dynamic, to protect and promote local original art, culture, religious activities, customs, and to take initiatives to establish Lamjung as a tourist destination by promoting internal and external tourism.

The festival will feature local original dance, song, costume and culture exhibitions, local agricultural products, stalls of cottage and small industries, handicrafts, herbs, food dishes and local products, industrial, commercial and professional technology exhibitions, religious and cultural tableaus, sports skills of athletes and students, entertainment programs, children's parks, sports, as well as performances by local and national artists, said General Secretary Bipin Shrestha.

It is estimated that the festival will cost Rs 12 million to run. The organizer, Bikash Shrestha, the first vice-president of the Lamjung Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that 150,000 viewers are expected to watch the festival. 

The organizers have stated that Rs 2/2 will be allocated for social services, with Rs 10 per ticket being allocated for the Disaster Fund, Adarsh ​​Women and Child Development Center, Manav Sewa Ashram, Sarvodaya Senior Citizen Ashram and the secretariat of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Lamjung.

Similarly, the organizers have stated that the golden jubilee celebration will also be celebrated on Poush 26 to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the association.
